Administrator's Column

Can you believe it is already 2010 and Valentines day will be upon us soon?  We are very proud of our home and the care that we give.  I feel that we have the best home anywhere.

Maintenance day and Activity Professional's week were both celebrated in January.  Congratulations to Maintenance Supervisor Jason Long and his assistant Roger Menghini.  They keep the building in working order and in tip-top shape.  They do more than the eye can see.  We also congratulate the Activity Staff, Director Cindi Paden and her assistants Pam, Georgia, and Owyn.  They do a great job keeping our folks well entertained and busy.

I can’t believe that baby Caleb just joined our family last summer.  They grow up so fast!  Noah is three, and Mason is six.  They are such great big brothers to Caleb.  It is so much fun being Mom to three boys.

My door is always open.  Please stop in anytime if you have any concerns, suggestions, and compliments, or just want to stop in and visit.

God Bless, Carla

Social Service Column

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful and Merry Christmas!  I hope your 2010 is a happy and healthy one.  I had a very nice Christmas and new year. As did my family.

January is such a “Blah” month.  It’s cold, snowy at times, you’re let down after the holidays, and besides that I always turn a year older!  (But I will take that over the alternative!)

This month we will also be going over   resident rights with your loved one.  Some of you may get a review in the mail to sign and   return if your loved one doesn’t understand.  Our State Survey could also be anytime now.

Anyway, be safe this winter.  My office and phone line is always open.  If I don’t hear from you I’ll catch you in our next letter in April.     Many Blessings!  -Tammy-

Happy New Year from the Activity Department! I just love starting a brand new year and equally to look back over last year with fond remembrances. I love my job and am so blessed to do what I do for a living AND get paid for it! God is good all the time!

We had an amazing 2009 and I would like to thank those who donated monetarily, gave of their time and talents or assisted us in any shape form or fashion during 2009. We appreciate you storing your treasures in Heaven with our MNRC family. We had an awesome year in Activities and 2010 is starting off in the same fashion. We have new entertainment joining us this year.

John Clark from Hillsboro will be singing the last Tuesdays of the month and he is phenomenal on the piano, looking to secure Elliot’s Line Dancing in Feb. or March and do some boot scooting and coming in May during National Nursing home Week we will feature Phil Steinberg as “Ol Blue Eyes” Frank Sinatra. He is A St Louis native and described as a fantastic crooner of the 40’s, 50’a and 60’s era. These talents will only add to our already wonderful MNRC entertainment such as Dale Hanabargar & Erin O’Toole or Mark Vincent.

I encourage you to join us for one of special music activities and see what you have been missing! We will also reinstate the monthly trips to the Orpheum once spring arrives. The Activity Department recently has had a new addition to the team. Owyn Lancaster joined us in November and she is as sweet as her smile suggests. Owyn is attending LLCC and will be with us till May. We are very happy to have her.

Remember if you have a suggestion for an activity or if you know someone who would like to share a talent or hobby with us, let Georgia, Pam, Owyn or I know and we will implement it if doable. Also we always have use for Craft supplies or Bingo cart items such as sugar free and regular candy, cookies or soda. Chips, Little Debbie snack cakes, jewelry, lotions or perfumes for men & women or anything creative you make think of on your own I am sure would be fantabulous! We value the privilege to love and serve your loved ones and are committed to keeping them full of zest! Again in the words of Sister Sledge-We are family!

God Bless You all with a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous New Year!
Cindi Paden MNRC Activity Director

Our lives as caregivers have been blessed for having been given the opportunity to know, love and care for each of the residents we serve.  It is with heartfelt sympathy that we extend our support to their families and friends.

When I must leave you, When I must leave you for a little while

Please do not grieve and shed wild tears, and hug your sorrow to you through the years

But start out bravely with gallant smile, and for my sake and in my name, live on and o all teh things the same

Feed not your loneliness on empty days, but fill each waking hour in useful ways

Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer, and I in turn will comfort you and hold you near,

And never, never be afraid to die, for I am waiting for you in the sky!
